Alternative Christmas Carol Lyrics, 2011. (The Maven)

For the past 3 years, I have been running a Festive Choir.

This year, we have been rehearsing in a lovely new bar in Leeds called ‘Maven’.   In keeping with my tradition, I have re-written some carol lyrics for them.  Thankfully, this song only has 3 verses, so it wasn’t quite as challenging!

DING DONG, MERRILY IN LEEDS

Ding dong Maven bar is here
On Call lane it is hidden
Should you ever want beer,
Just ask and you’ll be given
And there’s very many cocktails and a lovely wine list, lots of spirits too
Whatever takes your fancy, Nino and his lovely staff will gladly bring to you
Yes there’s very many cocktails and a lovely wine list, lots of spirits too
Whatever takes your fancy, Nino and his lovely staff will gladly bring to you

You may have to search a bit
Because there is no signage
But the doorway’s always lit
Find the staircase and then climb it
There, there’s very many cocktails and a lovely wine list, lots of spirits too
Whatever takes your fancy, Nino and his lovely staff will gladly bring to you
Yes there’s very many cocktails and a lovely wine list, lots of spirits too
Whatever takes your fancy, Nino and his lovely staff will gladly bring to you

Once you’ve happened up the stairs
Just pull the ‘M’ and enter
Fish or Ricky will be there
With other guest bartenders
And they’ll give you many cocktails and a lovely wine list, lots of spirits too
Whatever takes your fancy, Nino and his lovely staff will gladly bring to you
Yes there’s very many cocktails and a lovely wine list, lots of spirits too
Whatever takes your fancy, Nino and his lovely staff will gladly bring to you
